after more than 5 years since their last release, i came to this record with pretty high expectations.

"I Let It In and It Took Everything"" was one of my favorite records of 2020, its perfect blend of shoegaze-y reverb and rough, aggressive distortion really made for a great alt-metal record.

this time, they went for a different approach: the heavier sonorities are put in the background, in favor of softer, fuzzier guitar sounds.

obviously the "metal" side wasn't ditched (there are some great heavy tracks such as "gemini"), but these two sides of the spectrum cohexist separately inside the same record, in a complementary way.

as a long time fan of them and this alternative metal revival scene in general, this choice felt refreshing, contrary to what most people criticized about this record.

if you're a fan of bands such as Deftones or Hum you definitely need to give this one a try.
